Hoi An Discovery Marathon organized by Race Jungle offers a unique and enjoyable running experience. The route takes you through the most beautiful spots of Hoi An, including the old town, river, and peninsula. Enjoy the stunning scenery while running and achieve the significant goal of finishing the marathon.

Challenge

The challenge for this event identity system is telling the story about journey of discover Hoi An in a close and simple way. And at the same time, it must be different from the usual style of existing marathon event in Vietnam.Therefore, I proposed to develop an identity which focus on the main concept of depicting architectural beauty and familiar materials of Hoi An.

Logomark

The logo mark is inspired by the image of yin-yang tiled roofs and familiar diamond-shaped windows frame in architecture of Hoi An.The window frame is evocative the sense of exploration and viewing, which is great to represent discovery concept of the race. Throughout the identity system, many elements relate to window frame will be used.

Logotype

Logo type is customised from Hai Ba Trung, a bold Vietnamese traditional breath font. High, narrow letters. Elaborate tails and sharp curves. The font reminiscent of ancient Hoi An architecture with pillars, roofs and window frames.

The logo integrates the roof and diamond-shaped window frame into the letter cluster. The phrase Discovery Marathon is cut to create diamond-shaped spaces, creating a feeling of diamond-shaped windows looming on the walls.

The set of patterns, graphics and illustrations is developed from typical architectural and cultural materials of Hoi An

Typeface

The graphic elements are arranged in a rectangular block layout. It creates a feeling of antiquity yet still simple, and is consistent with rectangular shape of logo and shape of window frame.
